On 15th October around 8 dogs were illegally picked up by the municipal corporation and dumped at the Bela Road centre
The pick up was done by wires which caused injury to many dogs and Kaloo was one of them to sustain a terrible injury
Anyhow after a lot of pursuation by Mala the caregiver who feeds the dogs of the area and PFA trustee Ambika Shukla the dogs were brought back by the MCD on 18th October 2022
The dogs went through this most harrowing experience because Vedanta a Mumbai based company had requested the MCD to pick up the dogs as they considered dogs a threat to the half marathon which was being held by them on 16th October 2022
Both the request by Vedanta as well as the honouring of their request by the MCD was illegal
Anyhow Vedanta did apologize for their dog pick request and assured that they would not be asking for such requests in future and was ready to bear medical expenses on dogs which got injured in the illegal pick up

Kaloo (Pic in the post) was dropped back with other dogs on 18th but Mala didn’t find him for three consecutive days,
She kepy thinking that Kaloo must have been traumatized by the cruel experience of being picked up and the hostile stay at Bela Road so he is hiding
But the hunger forced Kaloo to come out of his hiding on 22 and then Mala saw his injury, he was bleeding from his jaw
On 23 she called the ambulance to pick up Kaloo and send him to a shelter but Kaloo could not be found, he again hid himself in one of the drains at the stadium and Mala could not find him
On 24th October 2022 when the whole india was celebrating Diwali the festival of victory of good over evil, Mala instead of celebrating the festival at home went looking again for Kaloo at the stadium and to her shock she found Kaloo lying dead at the place where he used to come wagging his tail to eat his one time evening meal for the last 16 years
But this time he somehow dragged himself to his favourite place not to eat his meal but to breathe his last and tell his caregiver Mala not to worry for him anymore as he is leaving this cruel world

The world where animals are only revered in holy scriptures but in reality are harassed and abused
Mala with a heavy heart has given Kaloo a loving farewell by burying him respectfully,
