Hi Guys,

Here is an update on this program.

We are in the process of identifying the locations where a number of dogs can be spotted and fed. Our focus right now is South City, Sohna Road and some areas around there where the dogs are mainly ignored.

Here is an updated list of people who have offered to contribute and the amount. Also, is mentioned the roles that each of us can play besides making the contributions.

Amit – Rs. 1000 pm – He will also have the PFA Sardhana cooperate for ambulance for large and when required, small animals.
Sharad – Rs. 3000 pm
Shawlinee – Rs. 5000 pm – she has 8/9 dogs in South City which will be included in this route.
Sanjit – Rs. 1000 pm
Smita – Rs. 4000 pm
Divya Kargeti (Divya and her contact Ruchin have setup a self financed ABC in Ghaziabad) – Rs. 500 per month (will pay upto 6 months in advance)
Jayanthi (Person behind the Water Bowl Project) – If you could let me know the amount for accounting and planning purposes 🙂
Anando (Person behind the website www.finalstand.org) – If you could let me know the amount for accounting and planning purposes 🙂

All of us should pledge to get atleast 2 more people to donate atleast Rs. 500 per month towards the Gurgaon animal rescue.
Also, please do try and find dedicated volunteers who would be willing to supervise this on certain preconfirmed dates (e.g. once a week, once in two weeks, once a month, whatever is suitable to them). We want dedicated volunteers, not people who will show interest and then disappear.

Here are roles for all of us:
I will now reach out to a few more people. I am trying to keep the group of people who actually do the work and so are aware of the hard work and dedication involved in this. So, they dont just sit and nag, but who will appreciate that is being done. Any recommendations will be highly appreciated. Even people who can donate food products like rice, or medications like neomec, septran etc.

Meanwhile, Nadir will have the prototype of the project running in June. If you all could contribute by say, May 20? I suggest that you either give post dated cheques, or what I plan to do is contribute a the amount equivalent to 5 months contribution at one time. Feel free to donate more than what you have committed, or getting other people to donate 🙂

Nadir will work at hiring a driver who will go with one of the feeding boys and cover Nadir’s regular route. Since the van we are using is Nadir’s old Maruti van, it has a capacity to hold food (its almost all home cooked daily) for about 200 dogs at one time. So, we are planning to target each of the identified spots about 2-3 times per week in the beginning. This way the dogs of these areas will get nutritious food and also will be under the scanner for any problems that any of them might face.

Some of the spots we have identified are as follows:
1.) around Artemis hospital
2.) left lane just before Eldeco Mansions
3.) sector road that cuts between Central Park 2 (Central park 2 has about 20+ dogs. The residents are slowly starting to move in and these dogs will have no where to go. We should get the dogs out of the colony by enticing them with the food and get them used to living around the sector road)

Please come forward and identify other similar spots and inform.

We will try this for a few months and see how it goes and modify accordingly.

Since Nadir doesnt yet have a NGO, here are three options for your to donate:
Option 1: You could donate to ‘Bhaumik Pashu Seva Samiti’. This is a small non-profit based in Almora, Uttarakhand that we work with closely. We can take checks on the name of Bhaumik and issue receipts (Tax exemption per IT rules). The money will then be given to Nadir by Bhaumik in their accounts. If this is suitable, you can make the check out to ‘Bhaumik Pashu Seva Samiti’ and courier to me, or you could donate online to Bhaumik.

Option 2: We donate directly to Nadir, but then you cant get the tax benefit.
So till the NGO is formalised, if you would like a receipt, you will have to opt for option 1 or option 2.

The van will function in three ways:
1.) Food for the dogs
2.) On the spot medications (as and when required)
3.) The van will coordinate with the MCG approved NGOs for ABC
4.) In case of a small animal in distress, the van can provide first aid, and then take the animal to the shelter / clinic
5.) In case of a large animal in distress, the van can provide first aid followed by relief by carrying the vet to the animal / or can coordinate with the PFA large animal ambulance and the bonus is, that it will wait with the animal till the time relief reaches it.

Thank you for your faith and support. I feel that since Gurgaon (especially this side of the highway) is a relatively small place, we can really create a very effective solution for the animals.
Best, Smita
