MUMBAI: Encouraged by the latest directive of Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) asking the state authorities to allow the feeding of animals on the streets in the current scenario of lockdown; besides the urgent appeal of BJP leader Maneka Gandhi calling this an essential service, many animal rights groups and activists have now resumed the feeding of local community dogs, cats.
“Our NGO Animals Matter To Me (AMTM India) in association of Royal Canine group have decided to start supplying dog and cat food to animals in various parts of Mumbai. We have made four teams for this important work since many local community animals have not got any food for nearly 48 hours due to the curfew and lockdown,” said founder of AMTM, Ganesh Nayak.
Nayak further added that besides giving food, the healthcare checks of certain animals will also be carried out by vets.
