I agree with you Javed, and i feel what you’re doing in Kashmir needs to be seriously emulated in every mischevious housing society of rest of India, starting with my own sector 25 at Noida. Here few mischevious office bearers of my housing society have got together with people who have constantly harassed me over caring for dogs and recently charged me under criminal sections of IPC falsely alleging that I get any dog on our premises and community dogs whom I care for to bite people and feed dogs in our community park thus making them ferocious. There has been additionally a clear drive to defame my family via two signature campaigns attached to their complaint, which we were unaware of to start with, and are now dealing with alongwith other complaints via highly competent solicitors. Not stopping there, my family and I have further been victimised with firearms and by rough goons physically intimidating and threatening me with exposed private parts clearly with malintention on their part. This is one step further they have gone now clearly to send out a strong message of their bully power to those who are dog lovers/ sympathisers thus discouraging people from looking out for community dogs or making this a dog friendly sector. More details in attached email sent two days ago to Anjali.

Hi Anjali,
I am wondering what support I am able to get from our community of dog lovers and activists re a criminal complaint filed by a housing society and some of its members against my dad and I, falsely alleging that we feed community dogs in our local park and incite dogs to bite people, that we make dogs, who live on our premises, defecate in the park. My mum and I have recently been attacked with guns. I have been physically intimidated and verbally abused during recent months post my police complaint re harassment by people living in this housing society. Another criminal charge filed against me was that my dad and i had demanded rupees 2 lac for withdrawing my above mentioned police complaint three months ago. Attatched to the criminal complaint are two signature campaigns maligning my family and I. If you remember, only last month a local publication published a picture of me with my foster dog (whom i had fostered for all of month and a half) on front page with uncomplementary by line and text. You will agree that this is clearly orchestrated effort to defame my family with the intent of discouraging us or anyone else from caring about community dogs/ animals by setting an example before rest of the community. May I say that despite majority members at Annual General body Meeting disagreeing to charging dog owners living here Rs 100/- per month, society office bearers have come around asking for Rs 100/- off our tenant who owns a dog and has been consistently harassed for owning one since she arrived here. The Supreme Cour t ruling as you would only know better , has declared pet dogs as members of family. So, if fines are to be levied on pet dogs at homes , by same logic there ought to be fines levied on each child in a family or better still, on each member of a family living here. Our case is in court now with highly competent solicitors dealing with it . However, you will agree that this goes well beyond a court case to advocating cruelty towards community dogs and putting fear and confusion in minds of people who may either already be dog lovers and supporters or may sympathise with dogs and animals in general, but will in all likelihood, due to negative advocacy, stay away from controversy and wrath of a few bullies who have nothing better to do than manipulating unsuspecting members of society to behave and act like them. Please find attached all relevant documents, including my initial application to the housing society dated 1 November 2010, so you are able to give me your feedback and hopefully support soon.
I look forward to hear from you soon.
Kind regards,
Dimple Wanchoo
