Eatery owner kills dog by pouring hot oil on her


NOIDA: In a case of animal cruelty, an FIR was lodged against a Ghaziabad-based eatery owner for killing a lactating female dog by pouring hot oil over her mouth. The complaint was filed by People For Animals (PFA), an NGO, at the Kotwali police station.

The incident occurred around 10am on Wednesday morning in a market complex at the Kalkagadi crossing in Ghaziabad. activists said that the dog had given birth to a litter in the area a few days ago and had strayed too close to the eatery in search of food. The enraged owner allegedly poured hot oil over the animal’s mouth which killed her.

“Our activists reached the spot after they were informed of the incident by locals. Onlookers told us that the dog died within 15 minutes after writhing in excruciating pain from the burns,” said Saurav Gupta, raiding officer,.

After reaching the spot, workers immediately took the injured animal to the nearest veterinary hospital where doctors declared her dead. The body was then taken to the Kotwali police station to register the complaint. Following the FIR, the body was sent for autopsy.

The FIR has been registered under Section 429 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. workers said that while the eatery owner is absconding, police have assured them that he will be arrested soon. One of the workers has kept the pups in his care while is arranging their transportation to an animal shelter in Noida.
